John R. Maxwell

John Maxwell is Executive Chairman of the Board. He has over 36 years of experience in the banking industry. Before joining John Marshall Bank, John served as President and CEO of James Monroe Bank from April 1997 until its sale to Mercantile Bank in July 2006, and continued with Mercantile until November 2006. From 1988 to 1996, he was Senior Vice President of Lending at The Bank of Northern Virginia, and from 1996 to 1997, Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. John is a graduate of the University of Colorado, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Christopher W. Bergstrom

Chris Bergstrom is President and CEO. He has over 36 years of experience in the banking industry. Before joining John Marshall Bank, Chris served in a variety of executive positions during 19 years with Cardinal Financial and Cardinal Bank, most recently serving as Chief Executive Officer and President before United Bank’s acquisition of Cardinal Bank in April 2017.  Chris received his Master of Science in Finance from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from James Madison University.

Philip W. Allin

Mr. Allin is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of SEI Furniture and Design ~ Supplies Express, Inc. and Office Outfitters, Inc. ~ Office Furniture USA. SEI provides services primarily to the federal and local government. SEI sells office furniture, space planning, and installation services on the GSA Schedule. Office Outfitters sells office furniture, primarily focusing on the private sector, with a business-to-business account base. Office Furniture USA is a well-known and easily recognizable name in the business community, with more than 240 locations from coast to coast and on the Web. Mr. Allin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park. In 1984, Mr. Allin began his involvement with land use and transportation issues, working on the revitalization of the Downtown Springfield Business District. Since 1992, Mr. Allin has served on the Fairfax County Water Authority Board of Directors, both as the Vice Chairman of the Board and Treasurer. Mr. Allin has been involved in several de novo banks in the Northern Virginia area as an organizer and founding shareholder.

Philip R. Chase

Mr. Chase is Owner and Principal of Synergis, LLC, a management and small business advisory firm that focuses on strategic planning and CFO support in the government contracting industry. From 2002 to 2004, he was a Senior Manager and Director of Stanley Associates, an information technology and professional services firm located in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to that, he was an Owner, Vice President, and CFO of CCI, Incorporated, a professional services government contractor acquired by Stanley in 2003. He has also worked in the banking industry in a lending and risk management capacity for approximately seven years. Mr. Chase is actively involved with SNVC, a technology government contractor in Northern Virginia, as a Member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Chase has served as a Director of the Bank since its organization.

Jean M. Edelman

Ms. Edelman was a co-founder and Principal of Edelman Financial Services, LLC, an investment advisory and financial planning firm, until its sale in 2005. She remains active with the firm in training and education functions. She is a Member of the Board of Trustees of Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey (f/k/a Glassboro State), from which she graduated. She is a member of the Nursing Development Board for Inova Hospital.

Michael T. Foster, FAIA

A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Mr. Foster is the President of MTFA Architecture, Inc., an award-winning architecture, interiors, and urban planning firm. MTFA is a regional leader in sustainable design and development for commercial, educational, private institutional, and government clients. Mr. Foster is active in the community, having served as Chair of the Arlington Planning Commission and Chairman of the Board of the non-profit organization Community Residences and numerous other professional, civic, and non-profit organizations.

Subhash K. Garg

Mr. Garg is a co-founder and Principal of Wiener & Garg, LLC, a certified public accounting firm in Rockville, Maryland. At present, he is the managing member of Wiener & Garg, LLC. Since June 1978, Mr. Garg has been a member of the American Institute of CPAs and is also a member of the Virginia Society of CPAs.

Ronald Gordon

Mr. Gordon is a Founder and CEO of ZGS Communications, which owns and operates 10 Spanish-language television stations and three radio properties serving the Hispanic community. ZGS is the largest affiliate of the Telemundo network, with stations in Boston, El Paso, Fort Myers/Naples, Hartford, Orlando, Providence, Raleigh, Springfield, Tampa, and Washington, D.C. ZGS has been a leading Hispanic communications firm for more than 20 years and has received numerous awards, including five Emmys, for its productions, marketing, and community programs. A native of Peru, Mr. Gordon received a Bachelor of Arts degree                                       from Syracuse University.

Jonathan C. Kinney

Mr. Kinney is a stockholder at the law firm of Bean, Kinney and Korman, P.C., in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Kinney serves as a Member of the Arlington County Retirement Board and as a Trustee on the Arlington Community Foundation and Community Residence Foundation and is Vice Chair of The Clarendon Alliance. For the last 30 years, he has been actively involved in Arlington civic matters.

O. Leland Mahan

Mr. Mahan has practiced law in Leesburg, Virginia, for more than 40 years. Currently, he is a Senior Partner at the law firm of Hall, Monahan, Engle, Mahan & Mitchell in Leesburg. His primary areas of practice have been litigation, business, land use, real estate, wills, and estate administration. Mr. Mahan earned a B.S. degree from Virginia Tech in 1961 and a Juris Doctorate degree in law from the University of Richmond in 1964. He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, serving in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp from 1964 to 1967. He is active in legal and community affairs and is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia State Bar, and the Virginia Bar Association, and is past President of the Loudoun County Bar Association. Mr. Mahan is presently serving as President of the Loudoun Small Business Assistance Center. He has served in leadership roles as a member of the Loudoun County Redistricting Committee, the Loudoun County Economic Development Committee, the American Legion, Kiwanis Club, and Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Mahan served on the advisory boards of Virginia National Bank (as Chairman from 1980-1984), NationsBank, and George Mason Bank.

Lim Nguonly

Mr. Nguonly is the founder and President of Princess Jewelers, Washingtonian Magazine’s readers’ pick for 2007 and 2008 Best Jeweler in the Washington Metro area. Since 1988, Princess Jewelers has built its reputation as a prominent D.C. full-service quality jewelry store. Mr. Nguonly also pioneered the Atlanta-based women’s-only spa and fitness club Women’s Premier Fitness, serving as President and Chairman. He is an alumnus of College de Valleyfield in Quebec, Canada, and holds a Diamonds Diploma from the Gemological Institute of America. Mr. Nguonly is now actively involved with numerous real estate                                                investments nationwide, including expanding projects in Georgia, Texas, Florida, and Washington, D.C.
